Coachella 2012: Real Estate, an astute investment

by kevin on April 16, 2012

Who: Real Estate in the Gobi Tent
In 3 or Fewer Words: Easy, breezy indie.
Memorable Because: New Jersey?s Real Estate played to one of the more crowded tents of the fest. The desert heat slept in and had only gotten to Coachella a few hours earlier; perhaps festival-goers were looking to cool off, because Real Estate were definitely cool. Alex Bleeker and company couldn?t be bothered to break a sweat as they eased their way through indie gems like ?Fake Blues? and ?Wonder Years.? But between the Growlers on the Outdoor Stage, Beats Antique in the Mojave Tent next door, and that accursed Do Lab, you couldn?t avoid heavy droning interfering with the sound, no matter where you stood. Too bad. It would have been a lovely time otherwise.
What I?d Tell My Friends Who Were at the Growlers: Raise your hand if you yelled ?Woo-woo!? at the stage at least five times. Oh? Your hands were already in the air? Hrm.
