Symbolic use of culture in the African American art

Introduction:

African American art?describes various forms of visual arts which are inspired from the Europe, America and African traditions. The art form work includes ranges like basket weaving, wood carving, and pottery weaving, quilting and painting. This term has different meaning for all people. To some people its racial term which describes artistic products like the graphic arts, sculptures, paintings, crafts, architecture etc which are mostly created by African descent North Americans? The term sometimes fails to describe the racial meaning to many people, addressing the culture. Perhaps the African American art now refers to all visual and artistic work pieces which are shaped formally, theoretically, stylistically and thematically even if they are not made by the African Americans. The African Americans art revolves within two cultures that are object centered having the traditions and folkways of the slave trade which further developed emancipation, discrimination, self-assertion and colonialism.

In the Art Institute having Chicago's collection portrayed African American art which contributed with rich introduction of painting, print making and sculptors which are nearly 100 years old. The Banjo Lesson painting was created by Henry O. Tanner (1859-1937). In his initial works, the artistic black experience dominated and impression of his early life. Clementine Hunter was renowned African American artist who led strong foundation in the modern art scene. She began painting when she turned 40 years. She did simple and two dimensional works which depicted entire Southern life experience which she witnessed. Many people even consider her as the best artists coming down from south. Her 1st painting was recognized in the year 1950 which still continues to inspire many.
